About AzMeCo
Azerbaijan Methanol Company LLC was officially registered on October 11, 2007. It designed and built the first methanol plant in Azerbaijan — the Garadagh Methanol Plant — with an annual production capacity of 720,000 tons. The total project cost amounted to USD 492 million, with AzMeCo’s equity contribution to the share capital totaling USD 50 million. The plant was commissioned in October 2013 and produces high-purity methanol from natural gas using ICI technology licensed by the UK-based company Johnson Matthey.
Until the end of 2016, the Garadagh Methanol Plant was owned and operated by Azerbaijan Methanol Company LLC. It was then transferred to the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
Today, Azerbaijan Methanol Company LLC is focused on the development of international energy and chemical projects. The company’s head office is now located in London, United Kingdom.
